1 - Manor 4 Typically I shy away from subdivisions for my walks, because they are often so similar and there is not much variety for my camera.  However, I checked out a new development near New Market, because it has been built on the acreage of a former farm, as so many of our subdivisions are.

1 - Manor 5 Manor at Holly Hills is on Ijamsville Road, across from Holly Hills.  As you enter the development, you see the old green barn and stone manor house.  I drove to the very end of the development, parked my car, and walked back to the entrance, making a few side trips to see what else I could discover.

1 - Manor 2 The homes here are built on sites ranging from 1.5 acres to 17+ acres.  The homes are huge! I'd guess they are 6000 square feet at the least. They have multiple garages, multiple levels, multiple wings, and multiple porches and outdoor living spaces.  Only a few have been completed, and several are under construction.  However, all but two lots have sold, so more new homes will be underway.

1 - Manor 1 1 - Manor 3 The road is nicely paved with a grassy median, and a brown rail fence defines the lots.  Small trees have been planted along the edges of the road.

I followed one of the gravel lanes that led away from the road, and I discovered an old barn and an abandoned house on the backside of one of the hills.  There was also a woolly bear making its way along the lane.

1 - Manor 6 The rural look of this development won't last long; it will give way to manicured lawns and paved driveways.  But for today, it was a good place for a good walk.
