My Daily Photo Walk: Best Farm

11 - Best Farm 111 - Best Farm 1 11 - Best Farm 311 - Best Farm 3 I stuck close to home, today.  I'm deep in the midst of preparations to leave for a trip to France in a few days, and I have a lot of things to take care of before I go.  Therefore, after buying travel supplies at Target, I decided to do my walk at Best Farm, just down the road.  
 
The farm is part of the Monocacy National Battlefield, and we are lucky to have such great walking areas as part of it all:  Thomas Farm, Gambrill Mill, Best Farm, Worthington, and the visitor center itself.  But Best Farm has always been a favorite, so I chose that for today's walk.
 
11 - Best Farm 411 - Best Farm 4 There is a great stone barn on the property, and the light is always good inside the barn, thanks to its open doorways and a large opening in the stone wall.  There is a dirt floor in the barn.  Inside the barn I used the opportunity to show that where you point your camera makes a difference.  There is a light meter built into digital cameras, and when shooting in other than automatic mode, the focus point you choose can really affect the light.  See the photo on the left.
 
11 - Best Farm 211 - Best Farm 2 There is a cannon in front of the farmhouse, and the wavy glass in the windows reflects the cannon.  I love taking shots of the reflections.
 
Best Farm has great sunsets, and the big, arching tree over the entry lane is a favorite to shoot, no matter the season.  I'll return again to this spot many times this year, I'm sure.
