Photo Tours For Beginners

Out of the Mist
One of the best ways to learn photography is to immerse yourself in it – to spend a few days taking photos with an instructor who will take you to great locations and help you to get the most out of your experience, including instruction both in the field and in the classroom.
Perhaps you have considered a photo trip, but aren’t sure you are ready for such an adventure. Are you still learning your camera? Are you reluctant to spend a lot of money on a photography trip without knowing if you’ll be able to keep up with everyone else? Are you concerned that you will have a lot of questions and need a lot of help and don't want to monopolize the instructor's time? If I have just described you, then come on a tour with me, designed for someone just like you.
Water Lilies - Adamstown, MD
My photo tours are tailored to the less experienced photographer. Groups are limited to four, so you will get lots of personal attention. We will work on composing good images, checking for proper focus and exposure, choosing the right lens for the scene, using tripods correctly, and more. After a few hours in the field, we will meet in a classroom for downloading the images and learning to edit them to not only make them worthy of sharing, but also to learn from what the data in each image can tell us. You will hear valuable feedback about your photos, so that you can apply what you have learned to the next photo session.
After a couple of beginner tours, you’ll feel more confident to select one of the many wonderful photo tours led by the professionals to iconic places like the Palouse, Cape Cod, the national parks, and even to places around the world.
